Cori Gauff says she views the 2023 season as “a crucial year” as the American is aiming to become more aggressive and overall a better player. Gauff, 19, has established herself as one of the best players in the game but she just hasn’t been able to figure out how to win WTA 1000 and Grand Slam titles.
Gauff, who achieved a career-high ranking of No 4 in October, is now ranked at No 5 in the world. Gauff is happy with what she has been to accomplish so far but underlined her goal is to win Grand Slams and be ranked at No 1 – not just to be a good player.
“I feel like this year we can really change the way I play. I feel like it’s a crucial year for me. So I think I want to relearn and retrain myself to be aggressive,” Gauff said, per Tennis Majors.
Gauff wants to elevate her game to a new level
Gauff is a consistent player and she is someone often seen in the latter stages of tournaments – but the problem is that she is just not winning those matches in the latter stages against the top players.
