Italian Billie Jean King Cup team captain Tathiana Garbin admits she is a bit “concerned” about Camila Giorgi after the news of Giorgi’s sudden retirement from tennis but remains hopeful that everything is fine with the 2021 Montreal champion and that she simply walked away from tennis because of her recent results.
Giorgi, who was one of the best Italian WTA players on the Tour in the last couple of years, apparently abruptly retired from tennis without an announcement or indicating that it might happen.

“There’s a bit of concern. The last time we spoke was before the Billie Jean King Cup and she didn’t give me availability to come to Seville with the team due to a foot problem,” Garbin told Italian media.
“I hope that she is well, that there are no problems and that she has left this sport that has given her so much with serenity.”
