In the continuing trend of top sports media personalities creating their own podcast-centric companies that compete with major networks, Colin Cowherd has signed Nick Wright to bring his podcast from Fox Sports to Cowherd’s The Volume, sources briefed on the move said Wednesday.
What is particularly interesting about this move is Cowherd and Wright are the two biggest draws on Fox Sports’ cable channel, FS1. Both will continue to do their weekday FS1 shows on TV.
Wright, who has grown in reach with his takes and fervent support of his hometown Kansas City Chiefs, will continue doing his thrice-weekly show “What’s Wright? With Nick Wright.” The show is a family affair as he hosts it with his son, Damonza, but plans to have his wife, Danielle, and two daughters on the program, too. Wright amassed nearly 720,000 views on his YouTube channel after 36 hours for his reaction to the blockbuster NBA trade that sent Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers and Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks.
