Coco Gauff’s Indian Wells campaign ended in a disappointing way but the American tennis star later had a moment that cheered her up as a family surprised her by paying for her meal at the “In-N-Out” drive-through and sharing her a kind note in which they praised her personality but also tennis quality.
On Friday, home favorite Gauff’s hopes of winning her first Indian Wells title ended after Maria Sakkari handed the American a 6-4 6-7 (5) 6-2 loss in the semifinal. The match itself was very physically and mentally demanding as there were two rain delays and world No. 3 Gauff also lost the match despite previously saving three match points in the second set.
After concluding her Indian Wells campaign earlier than she wanted, the top-ranked American female tennis player decided to treat herself with an In-N-Out burger. At the drive-through, Gauff had a very pleasant experience with one family and she took a selfie with their two young kids, who looked absolutely thrilled to meet the 20-year-old star.
