Coco Gauff shares big praise for Andy Murray’s fight for equality in women’s sports

Equality in women’s sports is an issue for which many superstars have fought over the years and, particularly in tennis, ambassadors of this important topic have been Coco Gauff, the sisters Venus and Serena Williams, Naomi Osaka Jessica Pegula, Andy Murray and her mother Judy.

And this is exactly what Coco talked about at the press conference, after having passed the 2nd round of Wimbledon thanks to her victory in straight sets over the Romanian Anca Todoni. Gauff said that the fight for equality in women’s sports is one of the greatest legacies that Murray and her mother Judy will leave behind.

I really appreciate Murray and not just him, his mother, for everything they’ve done for equality in women’s sports. I think his legacy is that he’s just a fighter. I just watched a video of Andy correcting reporters on stats, it’s something that as a female player you’ll see a lot where people will say this guy was the first player to do this. And it’s like Serena and Venus did it, or another player did it years ago. Or like the first American, and I’m like, I did it. Jess did it.
