Coco Gauff revealed she got a little bit bored during her seven-day break from any tennis-related activities after the US Open. On September 9th, 19-year-old Gauff became a Grand Slam champion after beating Aryna Sabalenka 2-6 6-3 6-2 in the US Open final.

After winning three titles during the North American hard court swing, Gauff returned to her home in Florida and decided to give herself a short break from tennis. “Once I got home, it was pretty chill. I took a week off, which is the longest I’ve ever taken off from tennis.

It was a little bit weird having nothing to do. Then we had a little celebration with all my friends and family could go to in Florida. After that, right back to training and back to getting back to work, which honestly, I was eager to get back.

A week was a long time for me to take off,” Gauff said during her pre-tournament press conference in Beijing, via the WTA website.
