Coco Gauff has decided to skip the San Diego Open following her US Open win. Gauff, 19, landed American women’s tennis a Grand Slam title after beating Aryna Sabalenka in the US Open final. This week, a WTA 500 event in San Diego is taking place.
Gauff, who was originally scheduled to play at this year’s San Diego edition, needs rest after two very demanding weeks at the US Open and it is not really surprising that the 19-year-old American is skipping the tournament.
Last year, Gauff competed in San Diego and made the quarterfinal before losing to Iga Swiatek.
