The young US tennis star Coco Gauff will be one of the next stars in the weeks to come. But she, meanwhile, talked about her dreams and about the managing of pressure. The women’s tour moved mainly to the Middle East, all chasing the 500 title in Doha.
The best tennis players in the WTA rankings are present in the Qatari capital to play the Qatar Total Open, which started on Monday 13 February. In addition to world number one Iga Swiatek, world number six and US number two, Coco Gauff, are also present in the main draw.
At the age of 19, the former number one in doubles is already a veteran of the WTA Tour and all has always expected a lot from her, including a victory at a young age in a Grand Slam tournament, as others have already done in the past, from her countrywoman Serena Williams.
On being a child prodigy, the American said at the Media Day of the Doha tournament: “Everything is under a lot of pressure, so pressure is something I’ve been dealing with all my life. It’s something I’m maybe not used to, because you never get used to it, but I have to learn to handle it better every day.
The more you experiment at first, the better you can fight those feelings.”
