Coco Gauff has emulated a highly impressive Serena Williams feat as the 19-year-old is the first player since the American tennis icon in 2009 to finish the year ranked inside the top-3 in both singles and doubles. Following her first Grand Slam victory at the US Open, Gauff also achieved a career-high ranking of No 3 in the world and replaced Jessica Pegula as the top-ranked American woman.
Although Gauff doesn’t play doubles nearly as much as singles, she still finished the year ranked at the world No 3 spot. This year, Gauff appeared in 14 doubles tournaments with Jessica Pegula as they made four finals and won two titles in Doha and Miami.
Also, Gauff and Pegula were semifinalists at the Australian Open and French Open. All in all, Gauff played lots of tennis this year and also enjoyed great success.

This year, Gauff emulated Williams’ feats a few times.
At the US Open, Gauff became the first American teenager to win the title since Williams in 1999. After becoming a Slam champion at Flushing Meadows just like her idol in 1999, Gauff had a special message for Serena and Venus Williams.
