At 28, Claressa Shields is already one of boxing’s top stars. Ranked number one on The Sporting News’ women’s pound-for-pound rankings, The “G.W.O.A.T.” can walk the walk and talk the talk.
Her skills have resulted in multiple title wins. Outside of the ring, the confident and trailblazing Shields is not one to mince her words, continually fighting for better pay and equal opportunities in the women’s game.
“I am the greatest woman of all time,” Shields said after beating Savannah Marshall in October via Sky Sports. “I think representation is everything. I think if I had a Claressa Shields to look up to when I was coming up, of course, I would be a lot better. Of course, I would know the game and wouldn’t have to work as hard as I’m working now.
“Right now, I’m creating a blueprint for a lot of young women on how to become a world champ, on how to captivate a crowd, how to do the things that I’m doing.”
