Do you think you love Chipotle the most?
And by that, I mean more than any other runner living in your immediate vicinity – or at least, in the vicinity of your closest Chipotle?
Strava and Chipotle recently teamed up to launch a January challenge for runners in cities all over the United States. The runner who logged the most segments on the one-block stretch in front of their participating Chipotle wins a year of free burritos or bowls.
That top athlete wins the title of “Local Legend,” which means completing the most attempts.
The official rules are here if you’re curious, or hoping they extend this challenge in your city in the coming months.
In Tempe, AZ, Jamil Coury claimed the top of the leaderboard, making the run over 2,000 times in the month of January. He and his running bestie (and arch-nemesis) Kevin Russ battled it out for the burrito prize, racking up over 700 miles that included that stretch in the month of January.
It was a showdown of epic proportions and the “steaks” couldn’t be higher, especially if you’re a double rice, double meat, extra tortilla type.
In the end, both of these warriors were awarded the coveted prize for Tempe.
