Chelsea sign England international goalkeeper Hannah Hampton

Date:

Chelsea have completed the signing of England international goalkeeper Hannah Hampton.

The 22-year-old joins on a three-year contract to 2026 following the expiration of her deal with Women’s Super League rivals Aston Villa.

Hampton, who will be part of Sarina Wiegman’s England squad at the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand later this summer, joins Ann-Katrin Berger and Zecira Musovic as well as fellow new signing Nicky Evrard as goalkeeping options for Emma Hayes.

She said: “I’m very excited! It’s a massive club, it’s an honour to be a part of this and to be able to wear the club’s badge.

“I want to keep improving, to help the team however I can and I’d love to win some trophies with the club at the same time.”

Hayes added: “There is no doubt that Hannah is one of the best young goalkeepers in the world.

“Her performances have been improving year on year, and we have high hopes for her future with us.”

Chelsea have enjoyed a busy summer with Catarina Macario, Ashley Lawrence and Sjoeke Nusken all joining.

They won the Women’s Super League for a fourth successive year last season while also lifting the FA Cup for a third time in a row.
