Chelsea moved one point behind Women’s Super League (WSL) leaders Manchester United after thrashing Leicester City 6-0 at Kingsmeadow.
Norway winger Guro Reiten opened the scoring in the eighth minute before Erin Cuthbert added a second moments later to put Emma Hayes’ side in a comfortable lead.
Danish striker Pernille Harder then scored a brace to send Chelsea 4-0 up before the half-time break as they secured their 16th WSL win of the season.
A stunning solo goal from Lauren James and a finish from Jelena Cankovic rounded off the success in the second half.
The reigning champions moved up to 49 points from 19 games, with United currently one point ahead having played an extra game.
Chelsea and United will meet in the FA Cup final this Sunday as both sides look to secure the double this season.
