Emma Hayes believes her Chelsea side are in their best form of the season ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup final against Manchester United.
Following their Champions League semi-final exit at the hands of Barcelona, Chelsea have won their last three Women’s Super League matches 2-1, 7-0 and 6-0 against Liverpool, Everton and Leicester City respectively.
Sunday’s game against United is Chelsea’s second chance at silverware this season after they lost the Conti Cup final 3-1 to Arsenal in March.
Asked if that defeat will serve as motivation, Hayes replied: “If you look at the history of the last two years when we have lost a Conti Cup final, the team has gone on to do quite well in the second half of the season.
“Our team bounces back really well so our focus is more on that than maybe one catalyst.
“But I think the second (Champions League) game against Barcelona is a bigger catalyst for us. That was the moment for our team that we actually realised we can compete with the best in the world.
“I never know what triggers athletes sometimes, what stimulates everyone of them. What I know is we are in the best place we have been in this season, that’s what I’m sure of.”
