Chelsea have triggered a one-year contract extension option to keep Fran Kirby at the club until 2024.
The 29-year-old forward’s contract had been set to expire this summer.
Kirby joined Chelsea from Reading in 2015 and has gone on to score 110 goals in 175 appearances for the club.
The England international has been an important part of Chelsea’s recent domestic dominance, winning 13 major trophies during her eight years in west London.
But she has not featured for Emma Hayes’ side since suffering a knee injury against West Ham in February and has been ruled out of the 2023 World Cup.
Kirby missed the majority of the 2019-20 season after being diagnosed with the heart condition pericarditis and was absent for the closing stages of the 2021-22 campaign due to fatigue.
She made a comeback in time for Euro 2022 and started every match at the tournament — scoring two goals — as England were crowned European Champions.
Chelsea can secure their fourth successive Women’s Super League title on Saturday when they face Reading in their final match of the 2022-23 season.
