Chelsea have completed the signing of Colombia international striker Mayra Ramirez from Levante for a world-record fee.
The Liga F side say the deal amounts to €450,000 fixed, plus a further €50,000 in variable amounts based on goals that the club expects to be met, one of which requires Ramirez to play 30 percent of the matches.
The fee surpasses the £400,000 Barcelona paid to sign England international Keira Walsh from Manchester City in September 2022.
The 24-year-old has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Women’s Super League (WSL) champions.
The Athletic reported on Thursday that Ramirez was set to sign for Chelsea. Speaking on the move, Ramirez said: “I am very honoured to be a part of Chelsea.
“To be part of such a huge club is a dream come true and one I’ve had since I was a little girl.”
The versatile forward, who played a key role in helping her country progress to the quarter-finals of the 2023 Women’s World Cup, has scored six times in seven appearances for Spanish club Levante this season.
Ramirez, who joined Levante from Huelva in the summer of 2022, has helped fire her side to second in the Primera Division, behind Barcelona.
