Today is #ChanelTuesday and the Fall 2024 season of Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week is well and truly underway. Earlier today, the first collection following Virginie Viard‘s sudden departure was unveiled. Guests (including Keira Knightley, Naomi Campbell and Vanessa Paradis) were welcomed inside Paris’ historic Palais Garnier, as Chanel stageD its very first fashion show within the majestic surroundings of the opera house (built between 1861 to 1875 at the command of Emperor Napoleon III.). Partly executed by the in-house design team, the studio tapped into classic Chanel codes as the search for Viard’s replacement continues. Amping up the sense of drama (befitting of the setting), voluminous skirts and dramatic capes floated over the mosaic floor of the opera house while Angelina Kendall had the honor of being this season’s couture bride.
Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:
“Getting rid of Virginie Viard was a great decision. This is already miles better. They finally fixed the proportions.” [avonlea002]
“I mean the collection was mostly designed by Virginie anyway. It has that very passé feel to it. It’s better, particularly the capes and the drama of the Opera.” [
