A good old surprise is everything, even more so during Paris Fashion Week. Notorious for showing off-schedule, Hedi Slimane unveiled his Celine Spring 2025 collection on Sunday, September 29 – mere weeks after the unveiling of the Menswear Spring 2025 collection. Slimane joined Celine as creative director in 2018 and amid rampant rumors surrounding his departure from the LVMH-owned fashion house, the French designer demonstrated the show must go on. Hedi Slimane looked to French playwright and novelist Françoise Sagan as inspiration for his latest Celine womenswear collection, unveiled via a short film titled Un Été Français. The Slimane-directed cinematic film was shot on location at Compiègne, a royal chateau situated in the north-east of Paris. Slimane’s cast of work worked chic skirt suits, tweed twin sets, babydoll dresses, Breton stripes, printed silk scarfs, and floral prints throughout the lineup, tooted in the liberatory spirit of the swinging 60s.
