Piotr Wozniacki has ripped the WTA, French Open and Rome Open as Caroline Wozniacki’s father thinks his daughter is being treated “disrespectfully” with wildcard selection.
Wozniacki, the 2018 Australian Open champion and a former world No. 1, kicked off her clay season in Charleston and also played in Madrid but that ended up being her only two tournaments played this clay season after she wasn’t awarded wildcards into either Rome or the French Open.
Wozniacki, who is 33 and returned to tennis last year after giving birth and being sidelined for three and a half years, is currently ranked at No. 117 in the world – a ranking that is still not enough for her to be making directly main draws of WTA 1000 and Grand Slam tournaments.
However, since she is still a big name, the general belief was that she would not have problems entering any tournaments and that every tournament would be thrilled to host her. But the Rome Open and French Open didn’t think that way.
