Caroline Wozniacki gets honest on if current generation could beat Serena Williams

Former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki suggests no one from the current group of top players would be able to beat Serena Williams on the American’s best day. 

Wozniacki, the 2018 Australian Open champion, is set for her first Australian Open since 2020. In her return to Melbourne Park, Wozniacki was asked an interesting question – to compare the current group of top-10 players with the one from half a decade ago. 

Wozniacki, who is 33 years old and has played against numerous great players and great champions throughout her career, acknowledged it is just tough to compare anyone to Williams. Wozniacki played against Williams 11 times and claimed just one win against the American tennis icon.

“I mean, you can’t really compare someone to Serena, in my opinion. I think when Serena was on, when she was playing her best tennis, I don’t think anyone here would be able to beat her. I’m saying that with having played basically anyone on tour,” Wozniacki said.
