Caroline Garcia made it through to the quarter-finals of the Cleveland Open on Tuesday. The Frenchwoman, who’s the top seed in the Ohian event this week, beat Peyton Stearns 7-6(4), 6-3 in an hour and 37 minutes in their second-round clash.Garcia hit 10 aces and had seven double faults.
She still finished the match by winning 83% of her first-serve points to her opponent’s 69%. She also won 50% of her second-serve points and 56% points on return on the American’s second serve. The 29-year-old saved two of the four break points she faced while converting four of 11 break points on Stearns’ serve.This is the first time since June that Garcia’s reached the quarter-finals of a WTA tournament.
