A year after ending her professional tennis career, Carla Suarez Navarro is announcing that she and her partner Olga Garcia are expecting their first child in June 2023.
Carla and Olga shared the happy news on social media. The retired WTA star and the Spanish soccer player hired a professional photographer to take a photo of them posing with a white board that says: “Baby is coming. June 2023.” The couple also posed with a pair of baby sneakers in their hands.
The seven-time Grand Slam quarterfinalist Suarez Navarro wrote on Instagram:
Let’s grow the family. Excited and happy to face this big moment. Very soon we will be one more.
The former WTA world No.6 added in a press statement:
Olga and I really wanted to be able to expand the family. After my retirement from sports, and both of us still young, we thought it was the ideal time to face a process that fills us with joy and enthusiasm. We are very excited about what we are experiencing and with all the new experiences that we hope to live soon.
The first women’s tennis players to congratulate Carla were compatriots Garbine Muguruza and Paula Badosa. Sara Errani, Kiki Bertens, Caroline Wozniacki and Monica Puig were also quick to send best wishes to the growing family.
