While re-introducing the head coach of the U.S. men’s national team, U.S. Soccer sporting director Matt Crocker made a point to praise Gregg Berhalter for his leadership and relationship-building skills.
“The process has been comprehensive, and evidence-based,” Crocker said during a June 16 teleconference formally announcing Berhalter’s return for a second stint in charge of the USMNT. “Before this process, I didn’t know Gregg. His passion, knowledge, leadership, and growth came through throughout the process.”
Now with his future decided after six months on the sidelines, Berhalter will now have to tap into those skills to fix a pair of broken relationships that linger from his previous spell in charge.
