Former world No. 26 Camila Giorgi has retired from tennis in a silent way as the Italian didn’t make any announcements but just popped up on ITIA’s list showing retired players.
On Wednesday, the tennis community was left surprised after seeing Giorgi’s name on ITIA’s updated list of retired players. By pulling that off, Giorgi basically just decided to walk away from pro tennis without caring too much to make any announcements – something that is not rarely seen in tennis or pro sports.
However, 32-year-old Giorgi was a bit of a character during her playing days so a good portion of tennis fans wasn’t really surprised by the Italian’s move.
Camila Giorgi is now listed as officially retired on the ITIA website, date of retirement: May 7th

Giorgi last played in late March at the Miami Open, where she defeated Magdalena Frech before Iga Swiatek handed her a 6-1 6-1 second-round loss.
But even before an early Miami exit, Giorgi didn’t have a great year as the loss to Swiatek put her on a 3-6 record in 2024.
