Cameron Brink continues to have a record-breaking year on the court.
Against USC on Friday, Brink became the career blocks leader at Stanford, putting up six against the Trojans to bring her career total to 278 – five more than Jayne Appel’s mark of 273 that she set in 2010.
Those six blocks also extended her single-season program record to 99.
“It was a really special moment, I’m feeling really humbled and blessed right now,” Brink said postgame.
Speaking via text message to the AP, Appel offered her congratulations to Brink.
“From one Stanford big to another Stanford big: You have taken the torch and moved it to a higher level. Congratulations, Block Queen! Truly an accomplishment to be on the top with all the other Stanford greats!”
Brink called it the “biggest compliment” from someone that she idolizes.
“She was such an amazing player,” she said.
