IOWA CITY, Iowa — Caitlin Clark recorded her 13th career triple-double and her 43rd 30-point performance in a 98-69 win by No. 4 Iowa against Loyola (Chicago) on Thursday afternoon at sold-out Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Clark, the reigning consensus national player of the year, scored 35 points, dished out 10 assists and pulled down a career-high 17 rebounds for the Hawkeyes (12-1). Iowa has won nine games in a row.
Clark’s performance
It’s almost commonplace to expect Clark to light up the scoreboard, but how she did so was as impressive as the statistics themselves. Clark hit four 3-pointers but she drove to the rim, hit mid-range jumpers and connected on 7-of-8 from the free-throw line. She was active on defense with only one of her rebounds coming on the offensive glass.
Clark now ranks seventh in NCAA history in total points (3,114), passing Jerica Coley and Rachel Banham. She was honored before the game for reaching 3,000 career points.
“Rachel is somebody that’s a great player, still plays in the WNBA, plays for my favorite WNBA team, the Minnesota Lynx,” Clark said. “I grew up loving the Lynx, so it’s always cool to be on the same list as a lot of great players that you’ve idolized growing up.”
Clark joined Sabrina Ionescu as the only players in college…
