Caitlin Clark continues to be the clock’s enemy.
Iowa’s star guard is no stranger to the buzzer beater, and reacquainted herself with the old friend Tuesday night against Michigan State. Tied at 73 with time expiring, Clark cozied up to the court logo at Carver-Hawkeye Arena and unleashed a buzzer-beating 3 to win the game and shred all Spartan hope for overtime.
Clark posted 40 points, sinking eight 3-pointers and going 4-for-4 from the line. Forward Hannah Stuelke was the only other Hawkeye to score in double-digits, adding 15 points and eight rebounds.
So far this season, Clark hasn’t scored less than 21 points in a game (Nov. 25 versus FGCU) and reached a high of 44 (Nov. 9 versus Virginia Tech). The senior, who’s started every game so far in her four-year career with Iowa, is averaging 30.9 points per game this season.
The 2023 Naismith Player of the Year is Iowa’s all-time leading scorer and growing, collecting 3,149 career points to date.
