The Caitlin Clark effect keeps on growing.

After an entire week of headlines, the Iowa star is on top of the basketball universe.

Clark became the leading scorer in NCAA Division I basketball history on March 3, surpassing Pete Maravich’s 54-year-old record. Days before she claimed the scoring crown, Clark cleared the air on questions surrounding her future decision by declaring for the 2024 WNBA Draft.

Although Clark is a senior at Iowa, she could have used an extra year of eligibility granted as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic to return to Iowa City for a fifth and final season. But she decided to go pro.

Yet one of NCAA basketball’s biggest broadcast parteners reportedly considered offering her a deal to stay in school — and to keep basketball fans’ eyes trained on Hawkeyes games for one more year.
