Brittney Griner is returning to the USA Basketball Women’s National Team for next month’s training camp and two exhibitions, it was announced Thursday, marking the next step in the 33-year-old’s possible inclusion in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Here’s what you need to know:
- Griner joins Team USA for the first time since her detainment in Russia for 10 months in 2022.
- Team USA will play exhibitions against Tennessee on Nov. 5 and Duke on Nov. 12 and hold training camp in Atlanta from Nov. 7-9.
- Griner is among a group of seven players who will participate in both exhibitions, including Dianna Taurasi, Kahleah Copper, Allisha Gray, Rhyne Howard, Sabrina Ionescu and Azurá Stevens.

Griner resumes familiar role in USA lineup
At the FIBA World Cup in 2022, members of Team USA declined to wear No. 15, the number that Griner had donned during her previous appearances with the national team. The place they left open for her is now being reclaimed.
