BREAKING: Ana Bărbosu Announces Commitment to Stanford

Romanian Olympian Ana Bărbosu has announced her commitment to Stanford as part of the class of 2025. Widely regarded as one of Europe’s most exciting rising talents, Bărbosu brings an impressive résumé to the Cardinal program.

Bărbosu, 18, is a six-time European junior champion and captured the bronze medal on floor at the Paris Olympics. Known for her artistry and technical precision, she has been a standout on the international stage since transitioning to the senior level.

By joining Stanford, Bărbosu continues the program’s legacy of attracting top international talent. She is expected to make an immediate impact in the NCAA, bolstering a team that already features several elite-level athletes.

“It feels almost surreal to announce that I’ve been accepted to Stanford University! Can’t wait to join this amazing family! Go Card!” she said in a post on Instagram.

Stanford’s gymnastics program, under head coach Tabitha Yim, has made six regional championships and a national championship semifinal appearance. With Bărbosu’s arrival, the Cardinal look to strengthen their push for championship success.
