Boston Marathon 2023 start time, route, qualifying times, list of past winners

The most revered event in running, the Boston Marathon, returns Monday for its 127th edition.

For the first time, the event will join the New York and Chicago marathons in having a nonbinary division. London will have one in its marathon on April 23.

Other than that substantial change, the event will remain largely the same with all the pomp and circumstance attached to it.

Runners will be looking to take the wreaths from last year’s winners, Evans Chebet and Peris Jepchirchir. The path to victory will be as difficult as ever, but that should make this a compelling race.

This year’s Boston Marathon will take place on Monday, April 17. The men’s wheelchair division will get the day started at 9:02 a.m. Three minutes later, the women’s wheelchair event will begin.

At 9:30 a.m., the handcycles and duos group will depart. The professional men’s division will be the next group up, and it will take off at 9:37 a.m. That will be followed by the professional women’s division, which will start running at 9:45 a.m.
