There are important developments in the case of the Romanian champion Simona Halep, who was given a four-year suspension for doping in September 2023 for having tested positive for roxadustat following the 2022 US Open,. An accusation to which was added further irregularity on his biological passport.
At the end of three days of proceedings for the appeal presented by the former WTA No.1, held at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, Halep made some brief statements to journalists, hoping for a positive resolution of the case.
At the end of the hearing, in which the two-time slam champion presented her defense, Halep said she was confident in the evolution of the trial.
“I had the chance to show my defense and I really believe that the truth will come out and that the day of returning to the field will be soon. The nightmare that I lived for a year and a half is over. I had the chance to present my defense before the CAS, to demonstrate that I have never done any type of doping. This is what I have said since the first day I was accused,” the Romanian tennis player declared to journalists outside the Court.
