Boris Becker thinks having a healthy and strong competition could be the key to Iga Swiatek remaining motivated and winning more Grand Slams. Swiatek, who turned 22 on May 31st, captured her fourth Grand Slam title after beating Karolina Muchova in the French Open final.
Since the 2022 French Open, Swiatek has won three Grand Slams. Swiatek already has four Grand Slam titles and Becker predicted to Eurosport that the Pole could easily win 10 to 15 Slams if she manages to stay motivated and competitive.
Becker, a former seven-time Grand Slam champion, thinks knowing there are strong rivals out there would motivate Swiatek to further work on her game and also fuel the Pole to continue proving she is the best in the game.
Becker on why healthy competition could benefit Swiatek a lot
“The question is the rivalry; the women need it as much as the men. For Djokovic, [Rafael] Nadal and [Roger] Federer were important, and for Swiatek, it will be important that [Aryna] Sabalenka continues to improve, that Muchova continues to play well, Ons Jabeur, I also want to mention here, Coco Gauff, I would also like to see in the final again.
