Italian tennis player Camila Giorgi quietly retired from professional tennis at the age of 32. No announcement on Instagram or in an interview! The news became public knowledge when a fan spotted “retired” next to her name on the ITIA website.
Currently ranked 116th, Giorgi played her last career match at the Miami Open in March, where she was defeated by top-ranked Iga Swiatek in the second round, with a score of 6-1 6-1. As of May 7, 2024, she has retired, as indicated by her name appearing on the Retired Players list of the International Tennis Integrity Agency website.
Giorgi won four WTA titles in her career, the biggest one being the 2021 National Bank Open in Montreal. Other three include Merida 2023, Linz 2018 and ‘s-Hertogenbosch 2015. Her best performance at a Grand Slam was a quarterfinal showing at Wimbledon 2018. Her highest singles ranking was No.26 achieved in October 2018.
