Bisset breaks sub-2 minutes barrier – More Sport – The Women’s Game

Date:

At the 2019 UniSport Australia Athletics Championships Bisset clocked in at 1:59.78 at Sydney Olympic Park on Sunday and is now the fourth fastest in Australian history.

The 24-year-old took off almost four seconds from her personal best.

The last time an Australian woman went under sub-two minutes was in 2008 when Madeleine Pape went 1:59.92.

It was only two years ago that Bisset moved from Sydney to Melbourne to work with Peter Fortune, the man who guided Cathy Freeman to Olympic gold.

Her time in Sydney came after an already impressive 2:00.48m at the 2019 National Track and Field Championships just last week.

The time will now see Bisset head to Doha for the 2019 World Championships in September.
