Venus Williams is officially set to kick off her comeback after the Miami Open handed her a main draw wildcard and the American will be joined by Emma Raducanu and Caroline Wozniacki, who were also announced as wildcard recipients for the WTA 1000 tournament that starts on March 19th.
Williams, a former world No. 1, took a break from tennis after the US Open to address her knee injury but now she is ready to play again and return to Miami for her 22nd appearance at the tournament. Williams, 43, enjoyed massive success in Miami early in her career, having won titles at the tournament in 1998, 1999 and 2001.
When Williams kicks off her 2024 Miami campaign, she will be playing at the tournament for the first time since 2021, when she was beaten by Zarina Diyas in the first round.
Williams, Raducanu & Wozniacki all receive a Miami wildcard
On Thursday, the Miami Open also confirmed a wildcard for 2021 US Open champion Raducanu as the 21-year-old Briton is now set to make her third consecutive appearance at the tournament.
