Big Emma Raducanu update drops after four consecutive tournament withdrawals

Emma Raducanu will play tennis again this season after the Hong Kong Tennis Open organizers confirmed that the Briton will play at their tournament.

Exactly a month ago, the 21-year-old kicked off her Asian swing in Seoul. But after winning her opening two matches, the former world No. 10 retired injured her quarterfinal match due to a foot ligament injury.

Since then, Raducanu has missed Beijing, Wuhan, Ningbo and she also won’t play in Guangzhou next week.

However, she will be ready to play at the WTA 250 tournament in Hong Kong, which starts on November 28th. 

“At age 18, Emma @EmmaRaducanu became the first qualifier in the Open Era to capture a major when she beat Leylah Fernandez to win the 2021 US Open women’s singles title. She notched top 10 wins against world No. 5 Jessica Pegula and No. 9 Maria Sakkari this season and will be aiming for a strong finish here in Asia. She was voted the 2021 WTA Newcomer of the Year and appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2022 New Year Honours. This is Emma’s debut in Hong Kong,” the tournament’s post on X read.
