Bianca Andreescu has signed up to compete in Bad Homburg leading up to Wimbledon, the tournament announced. Andreescu, 22, made her debut on the grass courts of Bad Homburg last year. In her Bad Homburg debut, Andreescu enjoyed a great run as the Canadian made the final before losing to Caroline Garcia.
Now, Andreescu is set to return to Bad Homburg for a second consecutive year as she joins a 2023 player field that includes Garcia, Iga Swiatek and Angelique Kerber. “For many and very different reasons, it feels like you’re at a tournament in the 1000 and not the 250 category.
There’s just a great atmosphere everywhere. That’s great and not to be taken for granted!” Andreescu said in a statement.

In 2021 December, Andreescu announced an indefinite break from tennis to address her mental health.
In 2022 April, Andreescu returned to action. Two months later, Andreescu reached her first final of the 2022 season in Bad Homburg. “I now look at my sport as another way to grow as a person, and that’s really something that’s very close to my heart.
