After suffering the most extreme pain of her life and being wheeled off the court early into the second set of her Monday’s fourth-round meeting with Ekaterina Alexandrova at the Miami Open, Bianca Andreescu reveals that the diagnosis is two torn ligaments in her left ankle.
Two days after sustaining the injury, Andreescu is sharing with us her doctor’s report and the situation is much more positive than it could have been. With proper rehab, which she has already started, Andreescu is optimistic that she will return to competition soon. The exact recovery time frame can’t be predicted yet, but according to the Canadian’s statement, it looks like the injury is not as bad as it first appeared.
“I’m going to take it day by day, and I am optimistic that with the right work, rehab, and preparation, I’ll be back on court soon,” the 2019 US Open champion wrote on social media.
