Bianca Andreescu revealed she was unable to sleep for three days because of the pain following a terrifying Miami Open injury. During her Miami round-of-16 match against Ekaterina Alexandrova in late March, Andreescu tore two ankle ligaments Andreescu had to be assisted into a wheelchair before exiting the court in tears.
“Swollen but not bruised. I could barely move my foot. I did not sleep for the first three days because of the pain,” Andreescu said in a video uploaded on her Instagram. While Andreescu was out and recovering from the ankle injury, her dog was making her great company.
“Coco, she literally saved me throughout the whole process. She is the cutest, and I love her so so much,” Andreescu said.
Andreescu is returning to action this week
Fortunately, Andreescu avoided a very long absence from the Tour.
Just a month after her injury, Andreescu is set to play again. This week, Andreescu is the 23rd-seeded player in Madrid. After a first-round bye, Andreescu will play against either Varvara Grecheva or Xiyu Wang. When Andreescu went down with a scary injury, the whole tennis community wished the Canadian a very quick recovery.
