Belinda Bencic, 26, feels her forehand, service and mentality have never been better. Bencic, a former world No 4, has made three finals this year and twice she has made it all the way. Although world No 15 Bencic hasn’t won a Grand Slam this year, she feels her game is trending in the right direction and wants to put herself in a position to contend for the biggest titles on a regular basis.
After claiming a 6-1 6-4 win over Lauren Davis in the Washington round-of-16, Bencic revealed how she feels about her current game. “I keep improving definitely. I think I have improved a lot in the past year and also this year.
I feel like my forehand is the best it’s ever been. Also my serve and definitely my mentality on the court. I’m much calmer than I used to be (laughs), for the most of the time. No pressure to me. I really try to do my best and also try to be more consistent to play well every tournament and give myself a chance to go deep in the bigger ones,” Bencic said.
