NCAA.com Team of the Week, Baylor scored two more blowout wins last week over TCU and Houston, to improve to 14-0 on the season, the best start to a season by the Bears outside of the 2011-12 national championship team that went a record 40-0.
Now one of three undefeated teams in the country, Baylor moved up two spots to No. 4 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 women’s basketball poll released on Monday. Of the three remaining undefeated teams, Baylor, South Carolina and UCLA, the Bears are tied with the Gamecocks with 10, 20-point plus victories this season.
Baylor celebrated the opening game of the Paul & Alejandra Foster Pavilion in Waco, Texas, on Jan. 3 with a 71-50 rout of No. 23 TCU, which came in undefeated. The contest marked the first women’s game played at the new Foster Pavilion, ending a 35-year run of games at the Ferrell Center. The win was the 37th-consecutive win for the Bears over the Horned Frogs. TCU has not beaten Baylor in Waco since the 1989-90 season.
