Bay FC, the NWSL’s newest expansion team, hired former Levi Strauss & Co executive Brady Stewart as its first CEO, the club announced Wednesday. Here’s what you need to know:
- Stewart “built her career in the consumer and retail industry,” according to the team. Before joining Bay FC, she led Levi’s direct-to-consumer business in the United States.
- Bay FC said Stewart will “lead the charge of building a best-in-class organization in the front office and on the field” and will work closely with the team’s co-founders, including investment firm Sixth Street and former USWNT players Brandi Chastain, Leslie Osborne, Danielle Slaton and Aly Wagner.
- Stewart also plans to “prioritize creating a culture that celebrates and empowers players before, during and after their careers at the club” and “lead the club in its mission to increase equity by fostering community programs that develop generations of future leaders across the Bay Area,” the team said.
- Stewart told The Athletic the team hopes to grow into a “global brand.”
