Barcelona returned to the top of the European game on Saturday, beating Wolfsburg 3-2 in an exhilarating Champions League final. After going down 2-0, the reigning Spanish champions had a sensational second-half comeback, inspired by midfielder Patri Guijarro.
There were shades of 2022’s final in the first half. Last year, Barca found itself down 3-0 to Lyon after 33 minutes. This time around, it was down 2-0 after 37 minutes. But it stuck to its game, producing attack after attack, and eventually ground down Wolfsburg. By the final whistle, there was no doubt: Barcelona was, and is, the best team on the continent.
