Monica Puig, Puerto Rico’s first-ever Olympic gold medalist, is about to embark on an exciting new chapter—motherhood! The former tennis star announced on Instagram that she and her husband, Nathan Rakitt, are expecting their first child. In a heartwarming photo, the couple gazes lovingly into each other’s eyes while proudly displaying the pregnancy ultrasound.
The 31-year-old Puig revealed in the caption that their baby girl is due in the summer of 2025. “So excited to jump into our most exciting adventure yet! Baby girl Rakitt coming Summer 2025,” the former WTA player wrote, sharing her joy with fans.
Puig and Rakitt’s story began nearly two decades ago, when they first met at a tennis camp in Atlanta. After reconnecting thirteen years later, they have been inseparable ever since. The couple got engaged in October 2021 and tied the knot in November 2022 in a beautiful ceremony in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Puig, who famously captured gold in singles at the 2016 Rio Olympics, retired from professional tennis in 2022. However, she has remained involved in sports. In addition to working as a tennis television analyst, she has taken on new athletic challenges, running marathons, competing in triathlons, and playing in Legends events at Grand Slams.
