Summer is getting closer as is trying to achieve a bikini body. That’s why, one of your New Year’s resolutions was (and you haven’t started yet) to get back into shape and you’ve chosen swimming as your means on getting there.

What I’m going to share with you today is a plan which has a scope of getting you started in a sufficient way in the swimming pool. The plan is a 4-week plan so it will cover the first month of your workout. There are two different plans depending on your level of preparation beforehand: beginners and advanced…The difference lays in the fact that the advanced plan has an extra workout each week and each workout is slightly longer.

 

Week 1

Beginners	Avanced
1000m freestyle, without stopping and without timing yourself	2000m freestyle,  without stopping and without timing yourself
300m  easy swimming 200m only arms using a pull buoy 100m only legs using a board 3x200m constant aerobic swimming at a higher speed (with a 20second  pause between each)	400m easy swimming 300m only arms using a pull buoy 200m only legs using a board 100m mixed 5x200m constant aerobic swimming at an average speed (with a 20second  pause between each)

In Tasmania on June 22, 2013, the Dark Mofo winter festival nude swim attracted around 300 participants and was expected to become an annual winter tradition. The event was held at Long Beach in Sandy Bay in temperatures of about two degrees celsius, followed by a more modest ‘prude swim’ featuring swimmers in bathing costumes. In 2024, the Nude Solstice Swim promises ‘an increased capacity’ and will again take place at Long Beach at sunrise, on Friday, 21 June, ‘welcoming back the light after the longest night’.

Summer is almost here and lots of kids are already out for summer break, with many hitting the pool to cool off, but it’s important to do it safely.

Edinburg Aquatics Supervisor Nick Villarreal speaks with Channel 5 News’ Dina Herrera Garza on why it’s important to know how to swim.

The city of Edinburg will be offering swimming lessons for both children and adults. Registration for lessons opens on May 30 and classes begin on June 3.

Former college swimmer, Grant House, talks about his lawsuit, House vs NCAA, that recently was settled in court with a $2.7 Billion settlement from the NCAA that will change NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) for College Athletes forever.

As a member of the Arizona State Swim team & representing Team USA on multiple occasions, Grant’s NIL was used multiple times throughout his career by the NCAA but he never saw a dime of it. Nor did the Football & Basketball players that helped fund lower revenue-generating sports – like Olympic sports. Grant set out on a mission to change that.

With the recent settlement by the NCAA, Grant talks about his idea of the future of College Athletics within the NCAA.

Katie Ledecky won her first Olympic gold at age 15, and today has more individual Olympic gold medals than any woman swimmer in history. As she gears up for the Paris Olympics this summer, Ledecky talks with correspondent Elaine Quijano about reexamining the results of the 2021 Tokyo Games after news that Chinese swimmers had tested positive for a banned substance just months before the competition. She also talks about her preparations for the Paris Games, the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, and beyond.
