Aryna Sabalenka hilariously clapped back at the US Open following her win over American Emma Navarro, cheekily asking where was this support during the match.
On Thursday evening, the 26-year-old sealed her second consecutive final ticket at Flushing Meadows after overcoming the 13th-seeded home favorite 6-3 7-6 (3).
To no one’s surprise, the spectators heavily leaned on the American tennis player’s side during the match. But the No. 2 seed was able to handle it well and ultimately get the job done in two sets.
Afterward, the crowd applauded Sabalenka and showed their appreciation for the two-time Grand Slam champion. While the Belarusian appreciated their gesture, she made sure to let them know one thing.
“Well guys, now you’re cheering for me. I mean, it’s a bit too late. No, no, that really means a lot, and even if you guys first supported her, obviously I had the goosebumps from you cheering up her and there was really an incredible atmosphere. I really enjoyed playing and she’s such a great player, a really tough opponent, and I’m really happy to get through this difficult semifinal,” the 2023 US Open runner-up told the crowd.
