Aryna Sabalenka has had to face some difficult months, after the victory at the Australian Open 2024. To regain confidence, the Belarusian has decided to skip Paris Olympics to focus on the Citi DC Open in Washington, after the physical problems of the last few weeks. The current WTA No.3 is ready to return to the court and will do so on the hard court of the Citi DC Open, WTA 500 held in Washington.

At the press conference, the Belarusian talked about her form and goals for the end of the season. The former WTA No.1 will return to the US capital after seven years.
“It seems like nothing has really changed since 2017, it’s a very nice place. My career has changed a lot since then. I’m here because I got injured at Wimbledon and I didn’t play for a while. I felt the need to regain my confidence and my level before the US Open. I need to play some matches and that’s why I’m here. Withdrawing from Wimbledon was a very difficult decision because I never withdraw from tournaments due to injury. Even though I got injured, I continued to play.
