Sabalenka eliminated the very young new tennis star Mirra Andreeva 6-3 6-1. The winner of the 2023 Australian Open will now face Mayar Sherif (first Egyptian tennis player to reach this milestone – ed.). Sherif beat Elise Mertens 6-4 0-6 6-4.
Paula Badosa eliminated by Maria Sakkari, who will face Irina-Camelia Begu in the quarterfinals. Jessica Pegula beat Martina Trevisan, and now she will face Veronika Kudermetova. Kudermetova beat her countrywoman Daria Kasatkina 7-5 1-6 7-6 (2) in the Russian derby.
