Arsenal Women sell out Emirates for Champions League clash with Wolfsburg

Arsenal Women have sold out the Emirates Stadium for their Champions League semi-final second leg against Wolfsburg.

The sell-out was announced on Sunday, the day before Arsenal welcome their German opposition to London with the tie finely poised.

Jonas Eidevall’s side drew the first leg at Wolfsburg 2-2 last Sunday, coming back from 2-0 down thanks to goals from Rafaelle Souza and Stina Blackstenius.

This is the first time that Arsenal have sold out the 60,704-seater Emirates. Last September, Arsenal recorded a Women’s Super League record when they sold over 53,000 tickets at the Emirates for the north London derby against Tottenham Hotspur, which they won 4-0.

Arsenal previously set a record attendance for a Champions League fixture in the UK in the last round, when 21,307 people watched them beat Bayern Munich 2-0 at the Emirates to reach the semi-finals with a 2-1 aggregate victory.

“It’s wonderful news that such a huge match for us has sold out,” Arsenal CEO Vinai Venkatesham said. “We would like to say thank you to our supporters, with all available tickets sold for Monday’s match.
